About EVRi

A high-speed, hyperautomated business has SecOps that works that way too

Evri is the UK’s largest parcel delivery company. It moves over 700 million packages a year, delivered by 18,000 couriers in over 220 countries and territories around the world.

When Matthew Garvey joined as Security Operations Manager, the company’s security setup was fragmented. "Each of our technologies was operating independently, with no interconnecting data," Garvey said. His team spent hours on manual tasks. Silos created inefficiencies. Things had to change.

Turning to Rapid7 and automation was transformational

Evri chose the Rapid7 Command Platform for real-time threat detection and response as well as automated workflows. “We automated simple yes/no decision flows, drastically reducing the time we spent on manual tasks,” Garvey noted. His team was then free to focus on critical incidents and strategic priorities.

One of the most notable improvements came in the detection and takedown of phishing domains impersonating the Evri brand. Previously, this process required manual intervention. Now, with Rapid7’s automation, malicious domain takedown is faster and 100% automated. Much faster. “The more proactive we are, the less risk to our customers,” Garvey said.

A real partnership from the SOC to C-suite reporting

Garvey also recognized the importance of clear and actionable reporting for leadership.

Evri’s team created customized dashboards in the Rapid7 Command Platform, making it easier to communicate security metrics tailored to the C-suite. “We created a dashboard with the stats that matter to our leadership,” Garvey shared. This improved transparency, allowing the team to communicate the company’s security posture and decisions in a CEO-friendly format. (In the era of SEC rules and Board-level accountability, don’t underestimate this.)

Beyond technology, the company values the relationship with Rapid7. Richa Bhuttar is Director of Engineering & Cyber Security, and calls herself and Evri a very challenging customer. “We've got a structure in place and named people we reach out to who actually know our business,” she said. “I think that was quite key for us to work with a partner rather than a supplier.”

Looking to the future: more growth, more automation

The team is committed to automating even more of their processes and reducing alert noise. It’s how they’ll continue to create time for high-priority issues that need their brains and creativity.

A key focus? Evri’s extensive infrastructure includes over 1,000 employees and 30,000 couriers, all connected, all human. As Evri continues to grow, automation and expanded threat visibility remain key to their strategy, ensuring they can focus on delivering parcels and over delivering on security. Rapid7 is there for that.
